make_magsynop.pl is the original (pre-10/1/2007) synoptic-chart generation script.
make_magsynop_vX.pl, magsynop_<mach>_vX, and v2helio_<mach>_vX were used to make 
newer versions of the synoptic charts.  v0 and v1 were used during development prior 
to 10/1/2007.  Some data was released based upon these revisions.

The version used for the post-10/1/2007 data is v2.

make_magsynop_keith.pl was used for a special-purpose data release.  make_magsynop_old_style.pl
was used to duplicate old data, but it didn't work as expected as the modules had changed,
and there is a bug in the mdi day range used in the magsynop calls.
