The SOI Team

The Solar Oscillations Investigation (SOI) is conducted by a team of researchers and their associated staff with interests and expertise covering a wide range of the fields of helioseismology and solar physics. The team consists, in the first place, of the Investigator Team consisting of the PI and the Co-Investigators selected by NASA and ESA to build and operate the Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) and to process and analyze the data therefrom. Associated with the PI and several of the Co-I's are a number of other scientists, Project Associate Investigators, who have been hired to work specifically on the Investigation. There are also a number of other Associate Investigators who have become part of the team by agreeing to undertake certain tasks at their own expense or to cooperate in the analysis of data or to share appropriate data. Finally, the team includes student researchers and the members of the technical and support staff without whose detailed knowledge and skills it would not be possible to conduct the mission.

Membership in the SOI Team is open to anyone seriously interested in the science who is willing to work with the other members of the team and to abide by the policies and rules of the investigation.
