				EXPLANATION

- MDI only downlinks the portion of each full-disk image that is on or
near the limb of the Sun.  Because the apparent size of the Sun changes
with SOHO's orbit around the Sun, it is occasionally necessary to uplink
a new description of the solar limb to prevent downlinking unnecessary 
pixels or cropping part of the Solar image.



				PROCEDURE  

- To read pixels from limb annulus use the procedure: monitor_center (in IDL),
  which acts on VC2 data.

- To uplink the new limb figure use the procedure: set_limb_04		
  type in the value
