EBZ 26 Dec 96 - with input from JFC Summer 96 HOW TO ENABLE LIMIT CHECKING WITH "MODEMENU" -------------------------------------------- This process should be done on both mdisas and on mdicmd if you are not sure that limit checking is enabled or if the EGSE is exited. It's OK to run modemenu again even if the limit checking is already enabled. This process must be run on the EGSE Command Console not the EGSE Console (i.e. push the "Command" button on the EGSE Console to get the Command Console). 1. At the EGSE Command Console type: cd c "eof" this will put you in the directory /mdisw/cfl/eof/src where modemenu is located 2. At the EGSE Command Console type: perf modemenu several commands will scroll by and then a menu display will pop up: ----------------- |Which MDI Mode?| | _____________ | || OFF || ||_____________|| | _____________ | || SLEEP || ||_____________|| | _____________ | || SAFE || ||_____________|| | _____________ | || STANDBY || ||_____________|| | _____________ | || READY || ||_____________|| | _____________ | || OBSERVE || ||_____________|| |_______________| Simply click on the MDI mode that you want the limits set for and the control file will then go off and set the various limits. You will see several commands scroll by as it is executing. If for some reason the control file halts or fails try to compile the control file and repeating step 2. To compile the control file type at the EGSE Command Console: abort all comp modemenu Compile messages should come back and there should be no errors. If errors are encountered then contact Joe Covington, Mons Morrison, Roger C., Ganish Mathur, or Scott Williams. Any time a yellow limit is exceeded a message will appear on the EGSE message scroll area and the parameter will be surrounded by a yellow box on any of the display screens displaying the parameter. If a red limit is exceeded then a watchdog message box will appear notifying the user and you must click on the dismiss button to get it to go away. It should be emphasized that an out of limit will appear only if the limit value is exceeded but not if the value is equal to the limit value. If the user receives the message that modemenu has been halted, check to see if the procedure has been halted because a red limit was exceed- ed. If this is the case and the red limit value can be ignored for the time being then simply click on the "RE-TRY" button on the EGSE Command Console to start the procedure executing again.
