Minoru Oda, 1923-2001

Prof. Minoru Oda passed away March 1, 2001,
and we would like to remember him here. Among
many accomplishments, he was a Director General
of ISAS and a pioneer of X-ray astronomy. His
invention of the modulation collimator led to
Yohkoh's hard X-ray imager HXT, and his strong
support was instrumental to the existence and
success of the mission.
