The first Magnetogram observed by MDI from space, made at 10:45 on 21 December 1995 as a preliminary color-table is available as a gif file.

This image is an average of 5 30-second magnetograms observed 2 days later on 23 December 1995 when there were more fields on the sun. This magnetogram has the characteristics of the expected synoptic magnetograms. It is also available as a postscript file in grey with labels, or in color. Light colors are positive, out of the sun, polarity fields.
