Abstract:

We propose to use the Intensity and Line Depth measurements obtained in the Structure Program to correct both the GOLF signal and an appropriately simulated GOLF-type average of the Structure Program Doppler measurements, to adjust the MDI simulated signal to agree with the corrected GOLF signal using independently determined magnetic effects offsets for the two lines, and to thus establish an absolute calibration for the MDI velocity observations. The center-of-disk MDI velocities will then be analyzed for low-degree g-modes of short period as a joint SOI/GOLF investigation. The signal analyzed may be the least solar-noise contaminated signal available to either instrument.
