VIRGO intercomparison: reduction of noise for g mode detection

Abstract:

This proposal should be part of the VIRGO intercomparison.

The passage of sunspots from pixel to pixel on the LOI will induce low frequency noise that might prevent us to detect the g modes. Due to the low resolution capability of the LOI, the only way to 'see' sunspots moving across the LOI detector is to use the MDI data. The data needed will be the LOI proxy (LOI mask of the Structure Program), and the Continuum and Line Depth Averages (also of the Structure Program). These data will also be used to have a proper flat field of the LOI pixels.
