Title: ============== g mode detection with LOI data and LOI/MDI proxy Lead Investigator: ======= Thierry Appourchaux Team Members: ================== T.Hoeksema A.Kosovichev* Local Coordinator: ================== T.Hoeksema Lead Programmer: ===== TBD Technical Summary: ================== The goal is to detect g modes in the LOI data and the LOI/MDI proxy (intensity and velocity) using different techniques. Some are to be developped (Inversion procedures), some are developped (MLE), some are to be used (Thompson et al, 1995) Proposal Text: ======================= An artificial data set of a g mode time series will be help us to identify the best possible method; the set is available on the VIRGO home page. I have tried so far only the MLE technique. People at the ATT Bell Labs are trying their own method (Thompson et al, 1995). This investigation should be carried out in close collaboration of the VIRGO team as many of the information on the frequency of the g modes, the g mode velocity perturbation and the g mode intensity perturbation will be needed by both groups (VIRGO proposals A1, A2 and B1).
