COMPARISON OF LOCAL CORRELATION TRACKING FROM HR AND FD CONTINUUM FILTERGRAMS

Neal Hurlburt, Mons Morrison, Dick Shine, George Simon

We propose a two-hour calibration run to compare flow maps obtained by local correlation tracking (LCT) of FD continuum filtergrams and HR continuum filtergrams. The usual compressed data format will be acceptable.

A preliminary test by Dick Shine indicated that it seems possible to do LCT with FD continuum images, but we have not had an opportunity to compare this LCT result with that obtained with HR data.

We plan to obtain each of these images at a one-minute cadence for a total run time of two hours. We will obtain one image of each type during each CAM30 half-minute. The down-link times for the FD and HR images are 26 and 31 seconds, respectively. Thus they will fit in the 60 second limit.

Note: We also want to test the usefulness of LCT on Dopplergrams. A similar test of HR vs FD Dopplergrams was submitted earlier and is already in the queue of tests to be performed.
