Statistical Studies of Velocity Patterns Inside the Supergranular Cells

J. Singh

We are interested in statistical studies of velocity pattern inside the supergranular cells to investigate the relation- ship between
  1. Velocity pattern and cell size
  2. Velocity pattern and lifetime of the cell
  3. Velocity and magnetic field at the cell boundary, by using calcium K emission at the boundary as proxy for magnetic field and
  4. change in velocity pattern with solar cycle phase if any.
For this we need good quality velocitygrams obtained conti- nuously with an approximate interval of 15-30 minutes for about 3-4 days without much gap in the data. If continuous data is not possible we can still use the data to find answer to 2 questions out of four listed above. We shall use our own calcium K line spectroheliograms obtained at KODAIKANAL required as proxy to magnetic fields . It will be better if we can get the data of 3-4 days every year upto maximum phase of the solar cycle.

We are not interested in particular date because of statistical nature of this study.
