Solar Convection and Oscillations R.F. Stein, Michigan State University We will extend the theory of time-distance helioseismology to the inhomogeneous, dispersive, stratified solar convection zone. We will perform numerical simulations of the outer solar convection zone on the scale of supergranulation (9 Mm deep x 36 Mm wide) which can be used to calibrate time-distance helioseismology of solar surface structure. We will compare the results of local helioseismic analysis of SOHO data with the results of our numerical simulations.
