SOI Data Programs - prog:mdi_eof

These data are provided for purposes of quick-look analysis, including planning and scheduling of observations, instrument and observing diagnostics, and preliminary or provisional data analysis. They should all eventually be replaced by equivalent definitive data sets in prog:mdi.

Available Processing Levels

• level2: reorganized or resampled data. N.B.: because quick-look data are not ordinarily used for science analysis, the only datasets routinely processed to this stage are those such as the Structure Program observations of figure of the limb and averaged velocity used in predicting observables for calibration purposes. Associated Data Series:
  • Limb Figure: time series of limb position and profile parameters from the Structure Program observations of the limb annulus.
• level1: calibrated data in image or table files and organized by MDI Data Product Code. Associated Data Series:
  • Merged: calibrated data in image or table files gathered together with corresponding ancillary data. Organized by physical observable.
  • Low-Rate: data from the 5 kbps telemetry intended for the SOI Structure Program. Each data set corresponds to one day of data.
  • High-Rate: data from the 160 kbps telemetry intended for full-disk and high-resolution observations obtained in connection with the SOI Dynamics Program, Magnetogram Program, and Campaign Programs. Each data set corresponds to one hour of data.

• level0.5: level0 data reconstructed to images. Associated Data Series:
  • High-Rate: data from the real-time segments (telemetry Virtual Channel 2) of 160 kbps telemetry intended for magnetograms and other summary data.

• level0: raw data converted to image or table files and organized by MDI Data Product Code Associated Data Series:
  • Low-Rate: data from the 5 kbps telemetry intended for the SOI Structure Program.
  • High-Rate: data from the real-time segments (telemetry Virtual Channel 2) of 160 kbps telemetry intended for magnetograms and other summary data.
• raw: raw telemetry data files collected daily at the SOI-MDI EGSE.
  Associated Data Series:
  • Low-Rate: data from the 5 kbps telemetry intended for the SOI Structure Program.
  • High-Rate: data from the real-time segments (telemetry Virtual Channel 2) of 160 kbps telemetry intended for magnetograms and other summary data.
  • Housekeeping: instrument and spacecraft engineeering data, including command logs.
  • Monthly Housekeeping: instrument engineeering data (monthly)
  • Monthly Command History: instrument observing command logs (monthly)
• Quick-Look: raw telemetry data files from individual ground station contacts. These data are provided by the EOF ECS distribution facility prior to their level-0 processing, without removal of overlap. No distinction is made in the dataset names between data from real-time contacts and data from recording dumps; however, the telemetry files themselves will have either .QKL or .REL extensions depending on the nature of the telemetry contact.

  N.B.: This data series has been discontinued effective 22 May, 1996.

Data Availability

Raw data in the Low-Rate, High-Rate, and Housekeeping series, and Quick-Look data in the Housekeeping series are usually available within two hours of the end of the UT day.

Level-0 data in the High-Rate series are usually available within two hours of the end of the UT day.
