CRESCIT(1)

NAME

crescit - how much a MDI Data Product grows when it is
     reconstructed

SYNOPSIS

     crescit DPC

DESCRIPTION

crescit provides an estimate of the expansion factor by
which a data file for a particular MDI Data Product
corresponding to the given DPC will grow when reconstructed
     to two-dimensional image format.

DIAGNOSTICS

BUGS

The expansion factor for a dataset is based solely on the
increase in the data size and takes no account of overhead
in FITS headers and extra non-data files in the directory.
It is therefore always an overestimate, and for small data
     sets sometimes a large overestimate.

The expansion factors for non-standard crops are merely
rough approximations based on the radius ratio, not exact
pixel counts. Only the standard Structure Program binned
products are supported; non-standard binnings (6001-6006)
could be slightly off, but so far none are. For Limb
Annulus crops, the smallest standard crop is used, so that
the result is an upper bound on the expansion factor.
