NAME

     sssc_start - soi science support center start

SYNOPSIS

     sssc_start

DESCRIPTION

     sssc_start will start the  global  dsds  and  Ampex  servers
     (i.e.  dsds_svc  and ampex_svc) as well as the pe_rpc_svc to
     allow inter-pvm machine calls to access the global servers.

     sssc_start will also start the Ampex  user  interface  (xui)
     with displays on aditya.  The above will be run for mdi_2.

     sssc_start can only be run by user production on  the  tarax
     host which has the Ampex 410 drives.

     If sssc_start sees that a  pe_rpc_svc  is  already  running,
     then  it  will exit with no action taken. If you really want
     to restart the global servers then do a pvm halt.
