NAME

     stats_vds

SYNOPSIS

     stats_vds {-v} {-s} {-u} in={datacollection}

DESCRIPTION

     Stats_vds updates  and  optionally  updates  the  statistics
     associated  with  data records in SOI datasets.  The summary
     statistics are printed  for  each  data  record  unless  the
     "silent" flag (-s) is present.  If the "update" flag (-u) is
     present the dataset will be updated with the new values  for
     the standard statistics summary.

     If the datacollection is a set of DSDS datasets, the statis-
     tics  are  put into the overview and record files.  The data
     files are not changed.  If the datacollection  is  a  single
     "fits"  data  file the file is rewritten with the statistics
     added to the header.  (This is the normal vds_close action.)
