SOI Technical Notes

Online versions of Technical Notes do not exist in a single common format. For each Note, the format is listed. When a document includes several formats internally, such as plain text with PostScript figures, all used formats are noted in a `+' separated list. A few documents exist in more than one format; in those cases, separate anchor points are given. The formats used are as follows:

Frame: FrameMaker format (binary - MakerFile 3.0)
Frame4: FrameMaker format (binary - MakerFile 4.0)
HTML: HyperText Markup Language: Suitable for browsing with Web tools
plain: plain unformatted ASCII text: Several formats use only ASCII characters, but these documents use only the space, tab, newline, etc. characters for formatting. Some of these documents may only have newlines at the ends of paragraphs.
PS: PostScript: Level of PostScript conformance varies; your Web browser should either automatically open these documents in a separate previewer window or let you save them as named files.
RTF: Rich Text Format: Most if not all RTF documents were generated with the NeXT editor, but should be suitable for browsing with any RTF editor, but there may be occasional non-ASCII characters that are misinterpreted by other editors. Your Web browser should either automatically open these documents in a separate context-sensitive editor or let you save them as named files.
Word: Word for Windows format (binary)
