rwbin_Ld QUALITY Bits

The following data quality bits are defined specifically for the MDI time-weighted, binned Line-Depth (Magnetic Proxy or GOLF Proxy) observable:

MDI rwbin_Ld QUALITY Bits
Bit Meaning Comments Fraction Affected
0 - 15, 31 Standard QUALITY Bits
16 Temporal Phase Change Reference Time of image not at nominal n*(12-minute) offset from previous image, with change of phase with respect to 12-minute cadence; generally due to either interruption of Structure Program, restart of temporal averaging, or telemetry errors. Image likely integrated over less than nominal time. 0.0011
17 Simple Temporal Gap Reference Time of image not at nominal n*(12-minute) offset from previous image, but without change of phase; may be due to interruption of Structure Program, restart of temporal averaging, or telemetry errors, in which case image likely integrated over less than nominal time. May also be due to simple loss of previous image(s), with no impact on current image. 0.0015
18 Abnormal Integration Time Image integrated over non-nominal (23-min) time; overall level and effective observation time need to be adjusted. ~0.002 ?
19 Uncorrected Flat Field On-board flat-fielding performed with non-standard table and data not corrected for known errors. ~50 ? (~0.03? after reprocessing)
20 No Flat Field No on-board flat-fielding performed; binned and integrated data may be flat-fielded later. ~0.03 ?
21 Corrupt Flat Field On-board flat-fielding performed with corrupted table; correction requires after-the-fact determination of on-board flat-field values at the time. ~0.01 ?
22Unused
23 Multiple Images Multiple images present in the raw data with Reference Times in the same Record Time interval. This can be because there are multiple images with the same Reference Time, or images with Reference Times separated by less than 12 minutes. In the latter case it is a special case of flag 16. ~0.001
24 Mixed Sequences Integration of images from both 60-second and 30-second frame lists. Note that the setting of bit 9 is conditioned on only a single one of the images in the integration being from the 30-second list. If this bit is clear, then bit 9 can be used to determine whether the entire integration was in PRIME 60 or 30. ~0.5
25 - 30Unused
31 Problem Valid?
